The Rotary Club of Coomera Valley each year holds the Anzac Day March and Service at Upper Coomera .
The Upper Coomera Cenotaph was erected in 1918 by the local community to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice made by local lads in WW1. Since that time it has been updated to reflect the loss of community members who died in other theatres of war.
The Cenotaph’s location was chosen by the community in 1918, within the intersection of Tamborine Oxenford Road and Charles Crossing Road, so as to be visible to all who passed on the old Cobb and Co route between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
For over 100 years the Upper Coomera Cenotaph has been a place of significance to;
the families of the fallen,
men and women who have served,
local families,
our community who have paid and continue to pay tribute and,
our children who have learned about war and service through their annual Anzac Day attendance at the march and service.
The annual Anzac Day March and Service at Upper Coomera has grown to be the largest Community Anzac Day event on the Northern Gold Coast attracting up to 5000 people.
